hisanorganicpartofthe"Faust-mediatheater"project.Wewishtoencourageamult
i-disciplinarydiscussioninwhichviewsonthepresenttimeswouldclash,explore
dthroughthefocalpointofFaust'smicroscope.Butisthereanysenseintryingtoun
derstandthepresentthroughtheFaustianmetaphor?WhoisFaust?Whatgooddoesitd
otoustoknowmoreabouthim?Tous,topicshiddenandrevealedwithinGoethe'sFaust
havebecomethesourceofourowncreativework(wejuxtaposetheactor'sexistencew
ithprojectionsofthevirtualworldofcomputeranimationinasharedspace)butwea
lsoagainandagainencountertheirubiquityinourpersonallivesandintheentirec
ommunity'slife.AmIaFaustthen?!Inorganizingaforumontheorywestrivetoputon
anexceptionalvenue.Weemphasizecontrastsandfreshaspects,bothofthesession
itselfandofitsform.Thatiswhywewishthatthelivediscussionatthevenuebejoin
edbyaliveparalleldiscussionontheInternet(inEnglish)inwhichanypartyinter
estedinthetopicsdiscussedcouldjoin.Wewanttofacilitatethewidestpossiblec
ontactofthoseparticipatingphysicallyandvirtually.Theparticipantsattheve
nuewillbekeptinformedviaalargescreenaboutthediscussiontakingplaceontheI
nternet,whiletheInternetparticipantswillreceivetranscriptsoftheactiviti
esatthevenue.Bothdiscussionswillbehostedbymoderatorswhosetaskitwillbeto
facilitatefastercommunicationsbetweenthetwogroups,whichistosaythatanyon
eontheInternetmayputaquestiontothosepresentatthevenue,andviceversa.Ther
ewillbepersonalcomputersavailableatthevenuethatwillmakeitpossibleforany
oneintheaudiencetojoinintheInternetdiscussion.Wewouldliketowelcomeyouin
theInternetpaneldiscussionthatwillgoonforbothdaysconcurrentlywiththepro
