In lit there's the notion of subtext. This can refer literally to, say, footnotes or other such text literally underneath the main text. Or it can refer figuratively to what is only implied or the hidden agenda, that sort of thing.
 
So I coined "'neath text" to suggest "subtext" but refer instead to the underlying code of Web pages.
