ART AND SCIENCE
Arts and sciences are related, of course, as artists and scientists share a common interest in the unknown -- a penchant for creative exploration and discovery. A moment of inspiration. Eureka! Revealing mysteries of the natural world. Artists and scientists share this and more.

Strange Interactions
USA

"To solve conceptual and aesthetic problems using my unique array of computational, analytic and artistic skills..."
John Jacobsen is a scientist, a physicist, and an artist. John studies neutrinos and the mysteries of the universe by day, and by night he works to bring to light mysteries of the mind and soul.

Per the title of John's Web site, his creative art work might be a strange interaction of art and physics, soul and science. The artist creates imaginary worlds populated by human and fantastic non-human creatures, and technology in the form of machines and architectural constructions. The works are not surreal, per se, but may be reminiscent of early twentieth century metaphysical art.

John's approach to his art is intuitive rather than calculated, almost opposite to what you might expect from a trained scientist. Then again, real creativity and discovery is often a matter of intuition, and John's art work is most certainly creative.

"...the pieces evolved from abstract marks and forms into highly-detailed, dream-like images involving figures (human or otherwise) in stark landscapes."
John's Web site, Strange Interactions, is one of the first art exhibits ever posted on the Web -- since 1993.

The link below is to the main exhibits page. There are many images in the exhibit and it might take several minutes to load, but worth the wait. Enjoy.

Arts and sciences
are related, and John's approach to his art illustrates similarities and sometimes strange interactions of the two.
