Measured Reason

I will readily admit
to being naive in matters of global politics and war, and do not for a moment presume to have answers to contentious issues that are both deep-rooted and complex... but, as a being of reason and good will I cannot believe escalating brutality and stupidity is a viable solution to problems.

One month into the conflict in Yugoslavia. Is it time now to call time-out to hostilities and, at the least, try once again for a reasoned and negotiated settlement of issues?

Here is a document that has surfaced on the Web -- perhaps a voice of measured reason.

"In dealing with the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia the leaders of the world community have in the past made numerous fatal errors. New errors are leading to an aggravation of the conflict and are removing us from the search for peaceful solutions."
