"Lucky Lindy"
is first ever to fly a heavier-than-air
machine non-stop and solo from North America
to continental Europe.
During a thirty-three and one-half hour
crossing, Lindy fights fatigue and more than a few
moments of doubt, and electrifies the world by his
remarkable triumph of technology and human spirit.

solo spirit
attempts to re-create conceptually Lindbergh's
sense of adventure, wonder, and doubt. This work is
a virtual flight of fancy into the mind of the man.
solo spirit receives data transmitted simultaneously
from servers located in New York and Paris, the 1927
departure and arrival points. Data is presented in
the work as Lindy's thoughts.
Subject to any number of technical difficulties,
we are no more certain today of a successful crossing
than Lindbergh could have been seventy-two years
ago, but... we won't die if we crash.

After more than a decade of successful cross Atlantic
flights, French and American servers went quiet. In 2021
solo spirit is modified to run exclusively on
warnell.com servers.
