WEB PROGRAMMING
A technical art: many artists are exploring Web programming as a medium for creative expression -- with wonderful and wacky results. Here are two examples of this exciting new technical art.

"By cranking up the attention to the escalator core, the principle of spectacle is amplified: shopping is entertainment."
phrenia is the name of an innovative art project/Web site by New York artist Sean Eno. Here you will find photography and digitally rendered images in a layout you will have to see to appreciate.

Sean's approach to presentation of material at his site might be described as purely visual, or perhaps, minimal. There is very little by way of text to clutter the view. Still, by intelligent design this site is intuitively navigable and most enjoyable to browse.

"Imhotep [the program] is a student project that investigates how to make interactive construction documents.

(and Imhotep the guy was the architect for ancient Egyptian King Zoser's funerary complex.)"

phrenia
is a Web site of extraordinary focus. The architecture of this site might be a bit like an Egyptian pyramid, a simple form achieved by great (hidden) complexity.

Where Sean's site
is good example of Web programming understatement, this next Web site is everything but understated. In architectural terms, Fractal Cow is an amusement park...

"Laverne is a cow that lives in a patch of land near my girlfriend's house. [Laverne] was nice enough to let me take pictures of her for this experiment."
This impressive and entertaining Web site is extensive with much to see and do, all courtesy of one Dino Ignacio and talented friends in Manila. Their enthusiastic and thoroughly creative anything goes approach to Web site development and presentation is noteworthy, and a heck of a lot of fun.

At this site you will find some technically intriguing HTML programming, (the fractal cow experiment), plus some truly excellent art work, online comics, visual poetry, and many strange amusements.

"...an experiment on executing simple HTML programming of a virtual tour without the use of Java and/or VRML."
